Melanie Dasher received her training at the Medical College of Georgia, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. Melanie has been practicing as an Occupational Therapist specializing in pediatrics for over nine years. Prior to working at SPS, Melanie served as Coordinator for Pediatric Occupational and Physical Therapy at a large hospital. She specialized in providing care for Autism Spectrum disorders as well as early intervention (i.e., 0-3 years of age). During her appointment, she received advanced training to enable her to provide the most current and up to date therapeutic treatment interventions in pediatrics. She has received certifications and advanced training in the following areas:

  • Certified to administer the Sensory Integration Praxis Test (SIPT).
  • Completed training to prescribe and provide therapeutic listening programs.
  • Trained in providing occulomotor treatment as well as improve visual perceptual and visual motor skills.
  • Attended a variety of advanced level courses in Sensory Integration Treatment and Theory (e.g., Visual/Vestibular Treatment and Assessment, Alert Program/ sensory regulation, Wilbarger/ sensory diet, and more).
  • Received advanced training to treat Neurological Disorders (e.g. Brachial Plexus Treatment, Management of Cerebral Palsy, as well as introductory training in NDT, Neuro-Developmental Treatment).
  • Completed training to provide oral motor assessment and treatment.
  • Attended Handwriting Without Tears Printing and Cursive Workshop.
  • Completed various courses on praxis (i.e., motor planning) and upper extremity function.
A member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and Georgia Occupational Therapy Association, Melanie is licensed to practice in the state of Georgia .
